Handpicked Stays
Only the properties where the sunset view is more than a backdrop — it is the centrepiece of every evening. Rated by the quality of their western horizon.
How We Choose
Jamaica's best-known resorts are clustered along the north coast — Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay. The north coast is beautiful, but it faces away from the sunset. The sun sets to the west, and to catch it at the waterline, you need a resort in Negril, on the south coast, or on a west-facing headland.
Every property on this page was chosen with one question in mind: where do you want to be at 6:15 p.m.? The answer has to be somewhere with an unobstructed western view — a private terrace, an infinity pool, a cliffside bar, or a strip of beach pointing straight at the horizon. We rated each property from one to five stars based on that view alone.
Sunset Ratings
Sorted by sunset rating. Five stars means you can watch the sun touch the water from your room or the pool.

Booking Advice
Booking the right resort is only half the equation. At many properties, only certain rooms face west — and those sell first. When you book, call the hotel directly and ask specifically for a west-facing room or suite. Most properties will note the request, and many will guarantee it for a small upgrade fee.
For cliff-side properties like Rockhouse, every room has a west-facing view by design. For larger all-inclusive resorts, ask for ocean-view rooms on the upper floors of the western wing. At Jake's and other boutique properties, the staff will happily point you toward the cottage with the best sunset angle.
If you're visiting during peak season, book at least 60–90 days in advance. The best rooms in the best properties fill that far out. Off-season (May through October) offers better availability and significantly lower rates — and the sunsets are just as good.
